The Church
The church that
the Lord Jesus established had it's beginnings in about 33 A.D. shortly after
Jesus spoke the words, "upon this rock I will build my church" (Matthew 16:18).
The only authority the church would ever have would be the Lord, because He is the head of the church (Col. 1:18, 24).
After Jesus died to purchase the church with His shed blood (Acts 20:28), and ascended to the Father in heaven, the apostles began to preach the terms of admittance into the church. When people asked what they should do to be forgiven of sin and added to the church, they were told, "repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ, for the remission of sins...” (Acts 2:38).

The Bible then records that about three thousand were added to the church by the Lord after obedience to these commands. The Bible teaches that the promise still exists for any and all to be a part of the Lord’s church today. The text says, "…the Lord added to the church daily, those that were being saved" (Acts 2:47).
The church is not a building, but is a group of people who have been obedient to a calling to leave sin and serve the Lord. Those who are a part of the Lord’s church will continue steadfastly in the teachings of the Bible for the New Testament church (Acts 2:42; I Thessalonians 2:14).
In the New Testament we read of many congregations in different localities (Acts 8:1; 11:22; Rom. 16:1, 5 etc.) that belonged to the Lord, Jesus Christ (Romans 16:16). We call ourselves Christians and we are a church of Christ. We do not wear these names as a denominational classification, but completely out of respect and honor for Jesus, who is the builder and head of the church.
The Bible teaches there is one body (Ephesians 4:4), and every congregation, although independent to be faithful to the will of God, are united as a universal body of the saved, in Christ.
Those who are saved are called Christians (Acts 11:26), and were restricted from wearing any other name (I Corinthians 1:10ff).
There
were no counsels or synods or even city wide organizations
to plan and do the work of the church other than the local
congregation itself. Every church was responsible to be
active and function according to the directives of God’s
word (See the churches in Revelation 1-3 for more examples).
The importance of being a part of the Lord's church, is that Jesus is the "Savior of the body" which is His church (Ephesians 5:23; Colossians 1:24). Those who are a part of the church and are contending for the one faith of the gospel (Jude 3) can look forward to salvation in an eternal home with the Lord (Hebrews 5:8-9), while those outside of the church will be eternally separated from God and lost, while suffering the consequences of their sins. Come and be a part of the church belonging to Jesus as you respond in obedience to the will of God for your life.

Establishment (Our History)
The
church in Chillicothe is a newly planted church
that is truly striving to be the church that Jesus
established almost 2000 years ago. Our plea is not to accept denominational
thought, but to "all be one" in non-denominational unity just as Jesus prayed (John 17:17-21).
We are simply reading and applying the teachings of the word of God, that we can be sure to put away all man made doctrines (Matthew 15:9) and creeds, obeying the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. We want to have Bible authority for all that is said and done in our service to the Lord (Tit 2:1; 1 Corinthians 4:6; 2 John 9; Galatians 1:8-9; I Peter 4:11). We are a congregation of Christians that serve the Lord by sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ. We call it “serving Jesus by sharing Jesus”. We want to share the Lord and His message of good news with you.

The future meeting
place of this congregation in Chillicothe:
This local church has been blessed with
several donations made by some generous brothers and sisters
in Christ. These gifts have enabled the congregation here to
move forward in the purchase of a 1 1/2 acre piece of land
that is on US Route 50 behind North South Produce at 2004
Western Avenue. At this present time we have been approved by the
state of Ohio for using this land as a place to build a
meeting place and we have taken possession of the land after
the purchase was finalized. We are looking forward to seeing how the
Lord and other faithful Christians continue to bless us as
we pursue this future meeting place. If you are a member of
the church that would like more information or would desire
to make a contribution to this project, please contact us.
Pray that God's will is done in this regard and ask Him to
keep us focused on the work that He has called us to do. God
bless all those who are faithfully following the Lord.

Below are some images that we have taken
of the property and we ask that you pray that we might be
able to meet at this new location in the near future. Thank
you and God bless.

Entering the driveway, you
can see the old tree farm

Near the back of the
property line, there is a lane

The left edge of the
property shows our distance from Route 50

Looking down the lane
exiting toward Route 50

North Fork Creek runs along
the backside of the property

Standing in the middle of
the land, you can see the rows of trees

Recently we have prepared
the land for the building. There were 900 tons of dirt
hauled in to elevate the land to the necessary height. We
are now looking at several builders and should complete this
project before the end of this year, if the financial means
that others have donated are able to cover the cost. Thank
you for your individual contributions for our future meeting
place.
We want to thank God for
the blessings He is richly bestowing upon us. We want to
thank all of you who are serving as instruments that God is
using to assist us in this journey of establishing and
building up this local church in Chillicothe. God bless you
all for your faithfulness.
